Pjeroo Roobjee

The 80's

Pjeroo Roobjee (°Ghent 7 Feb 1945) took painting, drawing and engraving lessons at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in his native city and at the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam.

Pjeroo Roobjee is the pseudonym of Dirk De Vilder, a Belgian artist born in Ghent, 1945. He is a painter, graphic artist and author educated at the Academies in Ghent and Amsterdam (1960-1964). He feels good on the fringes of the art world. He's active in several areas: campaigns, various publications (poetry, prose, designs), painting and engraving in a deliberately aggressive style that is not devoid of humor, both in terms of colors and content. His muse is contemporary mythology: violence, consumption, eroticism.
