A visual quest on the border between painting and photography
Karin Borghouts has followed Vincent Van Gogh's trail, from his hometown of Zundert to Auvers-sur-Oise, his final resting place.
Borghouts took photos of buildings and landscapes in 13 different places where the painter stayed, but she also immortalized more than thirty still lifes. She reconstructed the original still lifes with real objects and photographed them so accurately that her photos look like real paintings.
Karin Borghout's highly ingenious photos can be found, for example, in the collections of the photography museums in Antwerp and Charleroi Belgium, the MAS and the University in Antwerp, Proximus Art Collection Brussels. Her work has been exhibited in more than 100 exhibitions in Belgium and abroad.
