Live in the auction hall


Pre-register to bid at our reception desk.
Our staff will register your personal details by reading your e-ID card.
After registration, you will receive a bidding paddle.
This paddle is strictly personal, be sure to keep a close eye on it.
Please return your paddle at the reception upon leaving the auction hall.
Signing-up with a current email address when registering will help us to inform you correctly.

Telephone and Absentee Bids


To organize a telephone or absentee bid, you can send us your bidding instructions via e-mail. Please include in your request following details: name, address, bank and invoice references, a copy of your Identity Card or Driver’s License and, in case of telephone bidding, the phone number(s) where to reach you during the auction. Contact information that is up-to-date is important for correct communication both during and after the time of the auction.

Every written offer or request to bid by telephone must be confirmed by us.

When you will be participating in the auction by phone it is possible to leave a safety bid. The written offer/safety bid will function as an absentee bid just in case telephone during the auction failed..

Live online bidding


In addition to telephone bidding or absentee bids, you now have the option of bidding online on our digital live platform. Access our virtual saleroom and bid directly on the lots of your interest from your computer, smartphone or tablet. For lots purchased online, a surcharge of 3% on the hammer price be charged (in addition to the usual selling fees).
To participate in live bidding via the digital platform, register on our website at the latest 24 hours before the beginning of the auction. We cannot guarantee the approval of late registrations.

Please note that the digital saleroom is optimized to run on Google Chrome or Firefox.

Absentee bids, requests for telephone bidding and registrations for online bidding will have to reach us at least 1 day before the auction.

Bidding increments

The artwork starts off at a price below the lower estimate. Bids always increase by +/- 5 to 10%. This means:

  • between 1.000 and 2.000 euro, the amount is increased by 100 euro;

  • between 2.000 and 5.000 euro the amount is increased by 200 euro;

  • between 5.000 and 10.000 euro the amount is increased by 500 euro;

  • from 10,000 euros, bid increments are proportional to the above.


Payment

Buyers are expected to make payment for purchases within five days following the auction. The cash payments of goods and services between consumers and traders are limited by the law. A maximum of 3000 € of the total amount can be paid in cash. It is not possible to pay with Mastercard, Eurocard or Visa.

Collect your purchases

No purchases can be retrieved during the auction. A purchase can only be collected if De Vuyst has received full payment in good, cleared funds, i.e. De Vuyst is in possession of the cash or the deposit amount is visible on our bank account. Collection occurs within ten days after the auction at the buyer’s own cost and risk. Any transport of the purchase will be arranged by the buyer. Collection starts from Wednesday following the auction. From then Tuesday to Saturday from 10 - 12 a.m. and from 2 – 6 p.m.
