Remarks Paul Éluard and Fernand Léger met just after World War II. More than political involvement - they were both members of the Communist Party - they also had their pursuit of sincerity in common. This core of their friendship was also expressed in the artistic field: in 1947, Léger painted a portrait of Éluard. In turn, Éluard wrote the poems "Les constructeurs" and "À Fernand Léger" for Léger. On which Léger illustrated the leporello edition of Éluard's "Liberté, j'écris ton nom" in 1953.
